Build a Dollhouse - 1" Scale (An heirloom Christmas Gift)

10 x 3 hour sessions - Tuition $350, Materials $125 - Total cost $475

Time: 9-12PM, Saturday, Starting Sept 25th.

The Dollhouse is built using 3/8" birch plywood. You will learn to cut and square the pieces using supplied plans for reference. You will be marking out and measuring the individual pieces. Gluing and securing pieces using glue, brads and pin hammer. This is not a kit, you will construct everything including the stairs. 5 windows, 2 dormer windows and front door are supplied.

Tools Used: Table Saw, Jigsaw and assorted handtools

Student supplies own 12" steel rule, pencil, 12" combination square, measuring tape. Safety: Ear plugs, dust mask and goggles.

Build a Castle - 1" Scale (An heirloom Christmas Gift)

10 x 3 hour sessions - Tuition $350, Materials $100 - Total cost $450

Time: 6-9PM, Wednesday, Starting Sept 22th.

The Castle is built using 3/8" birch plywood that you will learn to cut and square the pieces using supplied plans for reference. You will be marking out and measuring the individual pieces. Gluing and securing pieces using brads and pin hammer. This is not a kit, you will construct everything including the turrets and battlements. You will make the moldings and windows.

Tools Used: Table Saw, Jigsaw and assorted handtools

Student supplies own 12" steel rule, pencil, 12" combination square, measuring tape. Safety: ear plugs, dustmask and goggles.

Traditional Woodworking Techniques

6 x 3 hour sessions - Tuition $210 - Materials $35 - Total Cost $245

Time: 6-9PM, Thursday, Starting Sept 23rd.

This class is suitable for the beginner or refresher for those who did woodshop previously and is a recommended foundation course for future classes I plan on running. The class will focus on the correct use of handtools, used for furniture making for centuries. You will learn to mark up and square lumber using a hand plane. You will mark out and make joints such as Mortise and Tenon and Dovetails using a tenon saw and chisels. You will also learn how to maintain and sharpen tools using a grinder and oilstone.

Tools Used: Traditional handtools such as chisels, plane, tenon saw

Antique Furniture Restoration

8 x 3 hour sessions - Tuition $280, supply your own materials - Total cost $280

Time: 6-9PM, Tuesday, Starting Sept 21st.

Bring along a small piece of wood furniture in need of repair and re-finishing. Learn how to make necessary repairs, make and replace missing pieces, strip and refinishing using a traditional French Polishing technique. You will supply your own materials as needed. Note: I do not do upholstery. A simple dining chair seat should be ok though. Best to check with me in advance about your project. Time permitting you can follow with a second item if you have remaining time.

Tools Used: All handtools.
